NASHVILLE, TN….Feb. 20, 2009……EMI Christian Music Group is proud to congratulate several of their label group artists for their recent Gospel Music Association Dove Award nominations. The 40th annual Dove Awards will take place on April 23, 2009 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tenn. and air live on Gospel Music Channel.
Three-time Gospel Music Association “Male Vocalist of the Year” and sixstep’s recording artist Chris Tomlin received the most nominations of any artist for this year’s awards. The 14-time Dove award winner is nominated in the following categories: “Artist of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” “Male Vocalist,” “Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song,” “Worship Song,” “Praise & Worship Album” and “Special Event Album.”
sixsteps’ David Crowder Band also raked in three nominations for “Group of the Year,” “Special Event Album” and “Recorded Music Packaging” for their live recording, “Remedy Club Tour Edition” released in Aug. 08.
Sparrow Records’ 10-million selling, award winning artist Steven Curtis Chapman received multiple nominations with a nod in the coveted “Artist of the Year” category as well as for “Song of the Year” with both “Cinderella” and “You Reign,” a song he co-wrote with MercyMe. The multi-platinum-selling artist has been awarded 54 Dove awards, more than any other artist. She will release her sophomore project, “Freedom,” on March 24th.
